Most all children experience times when their behavior seems “out of control”. They may have difficulty paying attention or waiting their turn, or they may have trouble sitting still. For some children, however, these types of behaviors occur so frequently or are so severe that they disrupt their normal lives. These children may be diagnosed with a condition known as ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), “ADHD is a condition of the brain that makes it difficult for children to control their behavior. It is one of the most common chronic conditions of childhood.
How We Can Help
We at Sunshine Pediatrics frequently will refer out for a diagnosis of ADHD. Once diagnosed our office can mange medications accordingly as your child grows and help develop strategies for the patient and family. By using Vanderbilt forms which are filled out not only by parents but by the child’s teachers as well, we are able to monitor their progress to make sure they are learning and developing appropriately.
